Sanja Matsuri religious festival dates back to 1312, and is considered one of the three biggest festivals in Tokyo conducted by the Asakusa Shrine, which enshrines three figures related to the Aasakusa Sensouji Temple. During the three-days festival, more than 1.5 million people flood the place. The event features a grand parade and naked people not dressed except by Yakuza tattoo and simple diaper. The event is held annually on the third Sunday of May.

يعود تاريخ مهرجان سانجا ماتسوري الديني إلى 1312م، ويعتبر واحدا من أكبر المهرجانات الثلاثة التي يقيمها مزار أساكوسا في طوكيو، وهو مزار يضم رفات ثلاثة شخصيات مرتبطة بمعبد أسكوسا سينجوجي. فخلال ثلاثة أيام يفد إلى المهرجان، أكثر من 1.5 مليون شخص. ومما يميز هذا المهرجان الموكب الكبير والأشخاص العراة الذين لا يغطيهم سوى أوشام الياكوزا وحفاض بسيط يخفى عوراتهم. ويقام هذا الحدث يوم الأحد الثالث من شهر مايو في كل عام.
